Older dogs, like my Paddington, tend to suffer from the same problems as us humans. Their joints start to creak and groan, and they look uncomfortable trying to get out of bed of a morning. Funnily enough, some of the best pain-relief for them is exactly the same as it is for us humans. Paddington has been on a course of daily cod liver oil tablets and devil's claw supplements (available from all good health-food shops) with his dinner and after a fortnight the change is noticeable. He even jumps over fallen trees where he used to have to walk around them.

The meds are so working !
(careful dosage of glucosamine and paracetamol can also help the canine old-timers).

"uncomfortable trying to get out of bed of a morning"
I'm 24 and I've always had that problem.
I'm glad he's feeling better - give him a hug from me!

Is there a possibility for a dog to get some sort of animal flu? I mean, can I get get Relenza to treat my dog? He seems to be down with the cold but the best way to know is going to the vet. Too bad I can't because of my job and I don't want my dog to suffer.
I wouldn't advise giving your dog prescription drugs designed for humans. I would suggest if he is down with a cold the best course of action would be to let it run its course, or if you are at all worried you should take him to the vet.

Although my job has nothing to do with any kind of animals ( I'm a dedicated server programmer) I had the opportunity of raising over 20 dogs, 5 of them dying of old age while still in my care. I know what it means for a dog to have stiff joints. They're in pain just like we humans are. It breaks my hart to see them hurting but it's a natural part of life and all that we can do is feed them and love them.
