Jenny and Lana- 18th September 2009

Last Tuesday, as every morning, our little dog Jenny went out for her wee-wee in the garden. She came back all stressed and in pain, we had to bring her to the vet.

It turned out that she suffers from arthritis, nothing big, for her it is! She suffers from food-loss now, we had to put her on diet, she needs to lose weight.

The problem is, that she now associates going out in the morning causes arthritis attacks. No way to make her go! It is what is called a wrong connection, I guess. She thinks, going into the garden in the morning causes arthritis-attacks!. I need to find an animal-talker now...

Aw, poor Jenny!

While I can't help with the "wrong connection" thing, may I recommend that you give her cod liver oil in her meals to ease her joints. Devil's Claw also works wonders for arthritic dogs. Our Newfoundland, Paddington, could hardly move because of his arthritic hips, but after a couple of months on both cod liver oil and devil's claw with his meals there was a noticeable improvement in his mobility.

Thank you so much for this advise! I have to look up what devil's claw is, though. Our other dog Lana has Arthrosis, too. When they had to spend the 6 month in quarantine, Lana lost quite some weight. This alone made that she never limped again. Just a bit stiff at times. Mind, Lana is 11 years old. They get special food, though.

Poor little thing....As was so brilliantly demonstrated by Pavlov...Conditioning Reflex is how animals....all animals including humans...do much of their learning...;)
